Naming ceremonies - your questions answered

Here is a list of questions we are frequently asked about naming ceremonies.

Can an adult have a naming ceremony?

Yes, a naming ceremony is an event at which any person can be assigned a name.

Can I bring a friend to do the ceremony?

No unfortunately not.  One of our experienced registrars will be assigned to conduct your ceremony.

Can I have ceremony stationery?

Yes stationery is available for your ceremony

Can I video conference with relative during the ceremony?

Yes, this is possible. However please be aware that WiFi is not available in Cheylesmore Manor.

Can more than one person have a naming ceremony?

Yes, the ceremony can name up to three people. For further information please make an appointment to see the ceremony co-ordinator.

Can we choose our own words and have a personalised ceremony?

Yes,  you will need to make an appointment to see the Ceremony co-ordinator

Can we have godparents?

At a naming ceremony you are able to choose up to six accompanying adults who can make promises to the child/adult.

Do you provide any refreshments?

No, refreshments are not provided.

How much does it cost?

Ceremony fees depend on the day, date and venue of the ceremony.

Is there any internet access?

There is no WIFI available at Cheylesmore Manor House.

Where can I have a naming ceremony?

At any of our licensed, approved venues or Cheylesmore Manor Ceremony Suite.
