Fees

Fees are reviewed each year on 1 April and any charges made are applicable to the year the ceremony takes place, not when the fees are paid.

You are able to book your ceremony more than 12 months in advance.  However, only by using our save the date service at an extra cost.  

If you choose not to use the save the date service you can only book your ceremony 12 months in advance. If the date of your ceremony is more than four months ahead, you will have the option to pay a deposit for your ceremony but if less than four months then the full balance will be required.

If you are booking a wedding you will not receive your marriage paperwork until notice of intention to marry has taken place.

If you choose to save the date of your ceremony more than 12 months in advance, there will be a charge of £50.00. (Please note that this is not a deposit and is not taken from the final balance)

If your ceremony is booked more than four months but no more than twelve months in advance a deposit will be payable.

The remaining cost of your ceremony will need to be paid no later than three months before the date of your ceremony.

You will need a debit or credit card to make your booking request.

Fees

Amendments and corrections

An amendment fee (your deposit) will be charged for each alteration made to the date or time of your ceremony. 

Any consideration for a correction to a marriage entry/certificate will incur a fee of £75 by your local register office or £90 if the documents need to be sent to the Registrar General for consideration. These fees can be paid by debit/credit card.

Cancelling your ceremony

The following conditions apply should you wish to cancel or postpone your wedding, civil partnership, renewal of vows or naming ceremony. 

1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022

  • Ceremonies taking place in the Register Office – total fee will be refunded, minus a £25 administration fee 
  • Ceremonies taking place in The Queen Isabella Room – total fee will be refunded, minus a £50 administration fee 
  • Ceremonies taking place in The Library Room – total fee will be refunded, minus a £50 administration fee 
  • Ceremonies taking place in The Black Prince Room – total fee will be refunded, minus a £75 administration fee 
  • Ceremonies taking place at approved venues – total fee will be refunded, minus a £100 administration cost 
  • You will not be entitled to a refund if you cancel less than three months before your ceremony 
  • You will not be entitled to a refund if you fail to notify the office of a cancellation or fail to attend a ceremony
