For couples seeking a straightforward and legal ceremony, our Coventry Register Office Ceremony offers a simple and affordable option.

Held in our Register Office, adjoining the historic Cheylesmore Manor House, this ceremony is designed to meet the legal requirements of marriage or civil partnership in a private, no-frills setting.

This is a statutory ceremony, attended by the couple and two witnesses only, with space for up to 4 people in total (2 + 2).

Includes:

  • Registrars to conduct the legal ceremony
  • A simple statutory marriage or civil partnership ceremony
  • Signing of the legal schedule
  • Two legal certificates

This option is ideal for those who wish to complete the legal formalities in a quiet and efficient way, whether ahead of a larger celebration or as a more private occasion.

Please note, this ceremony does not include personalised elements such as music, readings, photography opportunities, or guest attendance beyond the permitted number.

Marriage or Civil Partnership – Please Ensure You Book the Correct Ceremony

Before booking your ceremony, it is important that you select the correct option to match the notice you have given (or intend to give).

What's the difference?

Marriage

  • A marriage is created through the exchange of marriage vows during a ceremony.
  • Couples must give a Notice of Marriage before the ceremony can take place.

Civil Partnership

  • A civil partnership is formed by signing a legal document in the presence of a registrar and witnesses.
  • Couples must give a Notice of Civil Partnership before the formation can take place.

Both marriage and civil partnership provide legal recognition of your relationship and are available to both opposite-sex and same-sex couples. The key difference is how the legal relationship is formed.

Important

You must book the ceremony type that matches the notice you have given.

If you have given a Notice of Marriage, you must book a Marriage Ceremony.

If you have given a Notice of Civil Partnership, you must book a Civil Partnership.

Booking the wrong ceremony type may result in delays, additional appointments, or your ceremony needing to be amended before it can proceed.
